Grade 7 Engineering Design Project Part 2 - Results Keep Coming

Don't let the calm and composed look fool you, the above student was beyond nervous when the weights first started to be placed on her stage. Needless to say, she was very happy with her results. Here are more students who have had their stages tested.

Stay tuned for more photos.

Grade 8 - Introduction to HTML 5 - Project 1 - Creating your first webpage

To all ODD section 8th grade students.

Schedule permitting all grade 8 students will be given their first HTML 5 project. The students have two classes to complete this project.

The project has the students create a website for their very own Virtual Pizza Restaurant. Using what they have learned they will code up their site which "potential customers" would use to find prices, types of pizzas, explanations for each pizza, all their contact info and an allergy warning.

If any student needs additional help please speak with Mr Falcon.

Note: This project only exists on the school's computers. None of their work is visible online.

Grade 7 - Engineering Design Project Part 2 - Bigger and better results

You are looking at one very happy, and a bit shocked, student. Holding up all that weight is nothing more then 1 manila folder and 24 inches of masking tape. So far this stage has held the most but there are plenty of students who haven't tested yet who are ready to beat this record. Below are more students with their stage right before testing.

Grade 7 - Engineering Design Project Part2 - Testing has begun

Students from ODD sections have begun testing their prototypes and the results are pretty incredible.

The picture shows one of the stages holding up three weight lifting plates (25lb, 10lb, and a 5lb) in addition to the books on top of that. Here are some of the students who have tested so far.

With more and more students now building their prototypes we'll be sure to post as many photos of their hard work as possible. So come back soon so you don't miss anything.

Grade 8 - AutoCAD

To all EVEN section students

AutoCAD is a commercial software application for 2D and 3D computer-aided design (CAD) and drafting. AutoCAD is used across a wide range of industries, by architects, project managers, engineers, graphic designers, and many other professionals.

Prior to students working independently in AutoCAD they are instructed as a group on how to use the software to create basic drawings.

Drawing Commands and Topics:

Copy    Move   Trim    Zoom   Pan      Mirror

RELATIVE RECTANGULAR COORDINATES allow you to specify a position along the X-axis, Y-axis, and Z-axis to locate a point relative to the last point you specified.

Grade 6 - Structural Design

To all EVEN section students

Using newly acquired knowledge students design their bridge through a set of rough draft drawings and a final drawing which will be used as a template for their project.

The Engineering Design Process is used for this project which involves designing, building, and testing a structure, in this case a Balsawood Bridge. A major area of focus is on the structures overall efficiency. Concepts such as Tension, Torsion, Sheer and Compression are considered when deigning the structures.

The nature of this project involves the use of sharp objects and cutting tools. Students are also evaluated on how they follow classroom safety procedures.  Key points which are stressed to all students are:

1) Focusing on the task at hand.

2) Displaying proper use of cutting tools.

3) Work area is kept clean.

4) Listening and follow teacher’s daily instructional plan.

Final Product is a Balsawood Bridge which students take home.

Grade 7 - Microsoft Excel Spread Sheets

To all EVEN section students

Prior to students working independently in Microsoft Excel they are instructed as a group on how to use the features in Excel to create simple spreadsheet.

Microsoft Excel was developed by Microsoft for Windows, macOS, Android and iOS. It features calculations, graphing tools, pivot tables, and a macro programming language called Visual Basic for Applications. The applications are useful in the areas of business, science, math, and engineering.

Spread Sheet Projects:

Ice Cream Store

Tallest Mountains

Top Grossing Movies

Grade 8 - Database Challenge (project 2) is Due

To all ODD section students:

The second database project using Access is due. Be sure you pass in both parts: The first shows the query and the proper name. The second shows the query results also with the proper name.

If you have completed both Database projects make sure to watch the YouTube video which introduces different kinds of relationships across multiple tables.

If you have any questions be sure to get them answered as soon as possible.

Grade 6 - Timed Tests

To all ODD section students:

When you complete a section you can attempt each of the timed tests for that section only. Remember, you have two attempts at the tests so if your first try doesn't go well, speak with Mr. Falcon and he will provide extra practice to help you improve.

If you have any questions be sure to get them answered as soon as possible.

When you have completed all the practice lessons for the Middle Row, alert your teacher. If you didn't have any issues, you can take your first Timed Typing Test. You will have two attempts at the test.

If you had some issues and would like some extra practice, speak with Mr. Falcon and he will delete that section so you can gain more practice time.

If you have any questions be sure to ask as soon as possible.

Grade 8 - First Database Project is Due

To all ODD section 8th grade classes.

To all ODD section 7th grade classes.

You have two classes left to finish the first half of the Engineering Design Process project "Building a Stage"

If you have any questions, be sure to speak with me.

Grade 6 - EduTyping

All 6th grade students in Mr. Falcon's class should now be working on the EduTyping program. Keep in mind, Accuracy is your first priority. Typing fast with lots of errors will not help you when it comes to your Tests. Accuracy with speed should be your goal.

Grade 8 - Project 2 -Designing a Simple Query

To all ODD section classes, if you have completed the first database project you can move on to the following online Challenge.

Designing a simple query

Be sure to watch the video explaining how to create a simple one table query using a second method.
We have headphones or you can use your own. After watching the video read through all sections to help solidify your knowledge. When done you will need to download the needed table/database from the site in order to complete this challenge.

You will be required to obtain a screen capture of the following:

1. Your query with all the proper critia
2. Your results showing the proper name for the query

When you complete the challenge use YouTube to watch the Relational Database Concepts Video.
