8th Grade - Congratulations to the Robotics Sumo Competition

 Congratulation to Team...


RICE and BEANS




The winner from the first half of the year had to wait until the second half determined their winner. Then it was the best of 5 matches to determine the overall winner. Which they did in 2 straight wins, lost one and then another win to end 3-1.

Congrats!!!! Job Well Done.

6th Grade - Introduction to Programming with Tynker

 


To all 6th graders in sections 11-14  

Be sure to make use of Tynker.com to help learn the basics of programming. We are quickly approaching Thanksgiving so make good use of your time. Also keep in mind we will only have a limited time after we return from Christmas Break so use your time wisely and get help when you need it.

7th Grade - Let's Go CO2 car racing!

To 7th grade students in sections 7-11,7-12,7-13,7-14

It's time to go racing!!!!


The first wave of CO2 cars have been completed and are ready for racing. The dragster course has been set up and was tested. This means next week we will be racing to see who's design is the fastest.

7th Grade - The CO2 dragster project has begun

7th Grade - Co2 Dragster Project has begun.

 To all 7th grade students in 7-11 to 7-14 the Dragster project begun. Be sure to use the Design Process steps you learned in the previous project to create your personalized car. 

Racing will occur in Mid January so lets get designing, building and testing.

6th Grade - Full Scale Drawings have begun.

 To all 6th grade students in sections 11 through 14


Full Scale drawings have begun. All students are working toward completing all three full scale drawings found in their google classroom page. 



Any student who believes they need extra help or more time to complete the drawings are strongly encouraged to sign up for a Win period to obtain the help they need ASAP. 

7th Grade - Design Process - Stage project

 The Design process project is underway. Students will following the design process to help them research, design and build their "stage". Unique ideas are always encouraged. Good Luck and Good Design to all. Below are two designs that took a different approach then many others. 




Remember, your design can end up being quite impressive.

8th grade - Introduction to Robotics

 8th grade - Introduction to Robotics

The first class of 8th Grade student have completed the Binary worksheets and are now working on Robotics Projects. The remaining 8th grade classes will be finishing very soon and will also be moving onto Robotics

The students will first build their starting robot then start in on the "Driving Test" by completing all four objectives. 


1. 5-3-4


2. Parallel Parking


3. Block Push (Called the O'Brian)


4. Slalom Course 


If any student(s) has not completed their project(s) please see Mr. Falcon to obtain any extra help they may request and/or to make up any work.

8th Grade Sumo Robotics Competition Schedules

 We are happy to announce the Round Robin Schedules for the second half of the year are set up and ready to be played. Next week teams will have their robot inspected in order to qualify for the competition. Reminder of the most important requirements: 

1. Robots may not move or expand for the first 5 seconds of all matches. 

2. Robots must fit in the 8"x 7" box and not expand until after the 5 seconds.

3. Robots must have their cables routing internally to protect them. 

4. All sensor must be protected from contact except the button which requires contact.

6th Grade - Learning how to measure in Inches

 


Students will learn how to measure down to a 1/16" accuracy. Which will then get them started on the next project covering Full Scale Drawings.

3rd Quarter is underway

 To all students:

6th grade students have completed the emailing projects and are not learning how to measure to the 1/16th accuracy. 



7th Grade students have completed the GoogleApps project and are now working on the Design Process project. 



8th Grade students have completed the Binary worksheets and are now working on Robotics Projects. 



If any student has not completed their projects please see Mr. Falcon during Raider time to make it up.

Second quarter has begun - New Lessons have started

 To all grades sections 1 through 4

The 6th grade classes have started learning how to program using Tynker. This is a web based program so as long as they have internet access the students can continue to enjoy learning. 




The 7th grade classes have started on the transportation project called Designing a CO2 car. They'll be making use of the design process learned in the previous assignment while using supplies from Pitsco. 





The 8th grade classes have started on the next steps to improving their understanding of how Robotics and programming are interconnected.
